BUFFALO, NY - Shirley W. Struchen MBA ’79 established The May Murdzia Whipple & Emma Krakat Murdzia Scholarship in memory of her mother and grandmother. The scholarship supports academically qualified students who are majoring in the sciences and working with Roswell Park Cancer Institute.
This scholarship pairs two places that are close to Struchen’s heart. “Both my mom and grandmother received wonderful care at Roswell when they were fighting cancer.” she says.
Struchen cites the college’s reputation as a leader in science education and the value of its new interdisciplinary science building, Science Hall. Canisius and Roswell work together to provide research internships for students.
This scholarship says Struchen, supports the pairing of two great institutions.
“My mother and grandmother would be so happy to know that scholarships in their names will provide students with a Canisius education in the sciences and prepare them for professions in the medical field and life sciences.”
