Scholarship Overview
Canisius University is proud to offer the opportunity to incoming freshmen who declare a major in Creative Writing, and who demonstrate outstanding talent and ability as a writer, to apply for the Hassett Family Creative Writing Scholarship. Through this competitive process, the recipient selected will receive a full scholarship covering tuition.
The Hassett Family Creative Writing Scholarship is renewable for four years, provided the recipient remains a declared Creative Writing Major, and maintains a minimum GPA of 3.0. If the recipient is eligible for federal and/or state aid, the scholarship is applied after all other aid is awarded, including merit awards.
Criteria
- Admission to Canisius University as a full-time student for Fall
- Writing Sample (minimum 5 pages, maximum 10)
- Scholarship application and reference letters
Conditions
- Remain a declared Creative Writing Major
- Maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0
- Complete and submit the FAFSA and New York State Tap application annually
