On retreat, students explore real-world spiritual questions and form deeper relationships with one another. Our retreats are led by students for students with companions from Campus Ministry and from our faculty and staff. These retreats draw on Ignatian Spirituality and the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius, which have been used by people of all faiths to help them examine their lives and begin to articulate a personal spirituality for themselves.
Kairos
This retreat allows us to spend time away from campus so one can relax and explore their personal spirituality more deeply "where God allows time to stand still." (Kairos). Rooted in Ignatian Spirituality, the retreat calls students to a greater awareness of God in the world around them and serves as an introduction to the importance of reflection in one’s everyday approach to life. Students will reflect on experiences that have made them who they are and where they are in in their journey of faith, through small group sharing and reflection activities.
Always Our Children (AOC) Retreat
This retreat is for LGBTQIA+ students and allies. Open to undergraduate and graduate students. A long-standing tradition where our Canisius community will gather to explore the intersections between spirituality, gender, and sexuality.
