What to Pack:
Essentials for Everyone
Casual, comfortable clothing (including a hoodie or sweatshirt for cool buildings)
Comfortable walking shoes or sneakers
Umbrella or light rain jacket
Sun protection (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen)
Reusable water bottle (refill stations available)
Small backpack or tote bag (to carry materials throughout the day)
Notebook or small journal + pens
Phone and charger
Portable battery pack (charging stations are limited)
Overnight or Toiletry Needs
Twin XL bed linens (or a sleeping bag)
Pillow
Towel and washcloth
Toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, soap, shampoo, etc.)
Shower shoes or flip-flops
Fan (rooms are not air-conditioned; a limited number are available to borrow)
Comfort and Convenience
Medications (daily prescriptions + basic OTC like ibuprofen, allergy meds)
Snacks (especially if you have dietary preferences or want something in your room)
Tissues and hand sanitizer
Cash or debit/credit card (for vending machines, bookstore, or local shops)
Phone or tablet (access your schedule on Griff Connect)
Optional / Fun Extras
Canisius gear or school spirit wear
Small decor item (photo, pennant, etc. for overnight stay)
Reusable shopping bag (for orientation giveaways or bookstore purchases)
Journal or sketchbook (for downtime reflection)
Game or card deck (great icebreaker with roommates or new friends)
Orientation Check-In Information:
Check-In
Students and families may begin checking in for orientation at 8:00am. You must be checked in by 10:15am.
Parking:
Below is a map of the campus. The blue circle is where check-in will take place and the red circle is where you can park. To avoid congestion in the check-in area it is reccomended that if your parent/family is driving you that they drop you off at Frisch and then proceed to park.
Rooms:
When you check-in you will be given your room assignment for orientation, please keep in mind that this room is only for orientation and does not reflect your final housing assignment for the fall if you're living on campus. As a reminder the overnight portion of orientation is mandatory. Please see the packing list on the event hub on Griff Connect for an idea of what to bring. Remember, it is only one night so pack light!

Requirements and Deadlines for New Students
All new undergraduate students at Canisius University are required to complete four online courses focused on health, safety, belonging, and academic integrity. Graduate students are required to complete one course. These courses are provided through Vector Solutions, and each includes a Part One and Part Two.
Vector Solutions course links and instructions will be sent directly to your Canisius email address.
RAISE, an additional course, requires separate registration and will not be emailed automatically. You must sign up directly for the instructions that are on your checklist in GriffConnect.
Please ensure that you check your Canisius email regularly and complete all required components by August 24th for the fall semester. If you do not complete your requirements, you will have a hold placed on your account until you complete it.
