BUFFALO, NY – The Army Reserve Officers Training Corp (ROTC) program at Canisius University will commission 14 cadets as second lieutenants during a ceremony on Friday, May 18 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The ceremony will take place in the Montante Cultural Center, located at the corner of Main Street and Eastwood Place.
Nine students attend Canisius University, two attend the State University of New York at Buffalo, one attends D’Youville College, one attends Daemen College and one attends Hilbert College. The Canisius students being commissioned are:
- Daniel F. Dragone, a history and political science major, is assigned to the infantry branch and will serve on active duty.
- Zachary D. Eoute, a finance major, is assigned to the medical service corps and will serve on active duty.
- Brian J. Halicki, an international business major, is assigned to the military intelligence branch, 201st Battlefield Surveillance Brigade, Fort Lewis, WA.
- Candice M. Madill, an adolescence education major, is assigned to the adjutant general corps, HHC, 1st Brigade, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry Division) Fort Drum, NY.
- Jesse G. Meyer, a physical and health education major, is assigned to the New York Army National Guard, quartermaster corps, 642ndAviation Support Battalion, Rochester, NY.
- Ian A. Richardson, a political science and history major, is assigned to the infantry branch and will serve on active duty.
- Joshua N. Rowley, a criminal justice major, has been assigned to the quartermaster corps, HHC, 2nd Air Assault Brigade, 101st Airborne Division, Fort Campbell, KY.
- Mark J. Smerka, a business management major, has been assigned to the field artillery branch and will serve on active duty.
- Chasen J. Smith, a political science major, has been assigned to the New York National Guard, armor corps, Company A, 2-101 Calvary in Geneva, NY.
