Gregory R. Wood, PhD, became associate dean of the Richard J. Wehle School of Business this fall. The appointment is the latest in a long succession of positions for Wood during his 25-year tenure at Canisius.
The associate professor most recently served as chair of marketing and information systems, and was instrumental in the 2011 business school reorganization that created the new department. He was chair of the Management/Marketing Department from 2002 – 2009 and coordinated Canisius/F.I.T., a joint degree program between the college and the Fashion Institute of Technology. As co-advisor of the Canisius University American Marketing Association (AMA), Wood helped the chapter distinguished itself as a leader in the national professional organization.
Wood’s current scholarship focuses on technology and social media. He co-authored a leading information technology textbook with Linda A. Volonino, PhD, professor of information systems, and authored 16 publications in journals and conference proceedings.
Wood earned his doctorate degree from the State University of New York at Albany and his undergraduate degree from Oakland University in Rochester, MI.
He replaces James S. Valone, PhD, who has held the position since 1980 and is currently on leave from Canisius.
