Buffalo, NY – Canisius University will offer a course designed to bring Native Americans and the Western New York community together through education during its spring semester. The course, entitled Native History and Culture, will be held on Tuesdays at 6:00 p.m. beginning January 22 in Room 108 of the Health Science Building, located at the corner of Jefferson and Delavan avenues. The course is free and open to the public.
Professor of History Keith R. Burich, PhD, will instruct the course, which focuses on Iroquois history and culture, and feature the following speakers and topics: Clayton Logan (Thanksgiving Address), Dr. Jane Mt. Pleasant (Iroquois Horticulture), Perry Ground (Storytelling), Jaime Jacobs (Wampum Belts), Kevin White (Creation Story), Michael Bastine (Iroquois Supernatural) and Neal Keating (Iroquois Art).
