BUFFALO, NY – The National German Honor Society at Canisius University presents “Germany and France: Traité de l'Élisée 1963,” a traveling exhibition that commemorates the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Traité de l’ Élisée in 1963. The exhibition, which is free and open to the public, will be on display in the college’s Science Hall Commons from Tuesday, June 11 - Friday, June 21 from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.
“Germany and France: Traité de l’Élisée 1963” consists of 26 placards that follow the common history between Germany and France since January 22, 1963, when French President Charles de Gaulle and German Chancellor Konrad Adenauer signed the Traité de l’ Élisée (also known as the Treaty of Friendship). With it, Germany and France established a new foundation for relations that ended centuries of rivalry between them.
