BUFFALO, NY – U.S. News & World Report’s latest rankings of America’s Best Colleges place Canisius in the top tier of regional universities in the North. The 2023 list ranks Canisius at No. 22 among nearly 200 regional colleges and universities in the North. Now in its 38th year, U.S. News & World Report’s rankings of America’s Best Colleges evaluate more than 1,450 colleges and universities on up to 17 measures of academic quality, including student success, first-year student retention rates and graduation rates.
In addition to its “Best College” recognition, Canisius ranked No. 8, among regional colleges and universities in the North, on the U.S. News list of “Best Value Schools.” The “Best Value Schools” ranking takes into account an institution’s academic quality based on U.S. News’ “Best Colleges” ranking and the net cost of attendance (tuition, room and board, fees, books and other expenses) for a student who received the average level of need-based financial aid. The higher the academic quality and the lower the cost of attendance, the better the value.
Canisius scored similarly high marks on U.S. News & World Report’s list of “Best Undergraduate Teaching” and “Best Colleges for Veterans.”
The college ranked No. 6, among regional colleges and universities in the North, on the U.S. News list for “Best Undergraduate Teaching.” This ranking focuses on schools whose faculty and administrators are committed to excellence in teaching undergraduate students.
Canisius earned the No. 9 spot, among regional universities in the North, on the 2023 U.S. News list for “Best Colleges for Veterans.” To be considered for this ranking, colleges and universities must participate in the Yellow Ribbon Program, be certified for the GI Bill® and have 20 or more enrolled undergraduate veterans or active service members. Qualifying schools must also be included in the top half of U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Colleges” rankings.
