"Access to my professors outside of the classroom was very valuable to me, from questions I had about concepts we cover in class to career advice. I've heard horror stories from friends who went to larger universities and felt like they were just a "number" at their school, but I always felt that each member of the faculty and administration at Canisius were available for anything I needed.
Ryan graduated with his B.S. Marketing in 2009. Currently, he is a Recruitment Consultant in Bermuda where he specializes in recruitment and retention strategies for companies in re/insurance and financial services. Prior to Bermuda, he was an Assistant Vice President at Makosi Consulting in New York, New York, where he was responsible for marketing projects and building project management teams at tier-1 and tier-2 investment banks. During his time at Makosi Consulting, the company was twice recognized as one of INC 5000's fastest growing private companies. Ryan's family still lives in Buffalo where he visits often. According to Ryan, "What helped me most was the opportunity to get hands-on experience both in and out of the classroom. I took advantage of participating in the numerous clubs and organizations on campus that worked on real-life business projects. I was able to meet and interact with experts in the local and international business area as well as graduate with an initial portfolio of experience that blended what I learned in marketing, management, finance, and entrepreneurship. ere available for anything I needed.
While Ryan and his fiance, Anastassia Sorokina, are thrilled with their life in the tropical island of Bermuda, he continues to maintain contact with his friends and colleagues back in the United States. He's received multiple job offers from state side companies, but for now he's still enjoying the good life, living and working in an exotic paradise. "It's very likely that my career will eventually take me to some other location, but for now, I'm getting great experience and I couldn't be happier with our lifestyle here on the island", says Ryan.
