BUFFALO, NY – Katherine M. Costello will give the student commencement address during Canisius University’s 146th undergraduate commencement ceremonies on Saturday, May 19 at 11 a.m. in Alumni Arena at SUNY Buffalo’s North Campus. Approximately 832 degrees will be conferred.
Costello is a communication studies major and a business management minor. She is a member of Lambda Pi Eta, the National Honor Society of communication studies. Costello was a member of and served as secretary for the Canisius chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America.
Costello has extensive volunteer and service experience, including her work as a volunteer for the American Breast Cancer Walk and the Canisius University Relay for Life. In addition, Costello participated in extensive extra-curricular activities at the college. She was captain of the cheerleading team, wrote forThe Griffin, the college’s student newspaper, and was a member of Canisius University Television.
Costello also helped integrate new students to Canisius as a member of the orientation staff and introduced prospective students and their parents to campus as an admissions tour guide. As a member of the Leaders Educating and Developing (LEAD) Team, Costello worked closely with the Office of Campus Programming & Leadership Development (CPLD) to assist in the development, coordination, promotion, and implementation of workshops designed to promote leadership skills and ideals.
