The pomp and circumstance surrounding commencement week 2019 included attendance by members of the Classes of 1969 and 1959, Jubilarians who commemorated their 50- and 60-year reunions, respectively. Thirty Jubilarians stood to be recognized at the beginning of the undergraduate ceremony on Saturday, May 18, and were celebrated with a rousing round of applause from fellow graduates and guests.

Later in the day, the Class of 1969 danced the night away at a reunion dinner in the Montante Cultural Center. They had a great reason to celebrate – The Class of 1969 has committed a total of $585, 015 over the next several years designated to the Canisius Fund, endowment and capital projects at the college. This total continues to grow as additional donations are made.

On Sunday, May 19, alumni who graduated prior to 1970 gathered for the Golden Plus Mass & Brunch which brought the commencement weekend activities to a close. Rev. Thomas R. Slon, SJ, led the Canisius community in prayer at Christ the King Chapel, followed by brunch in the Student Center. Alumni heard remarks from Daniel Starr ’58, HON ’18, PhD, and a favorable report on fall '19 freshmen enrollment from President John J. Hurley. When President Hurley announced the increase in freshman enrollment for the fall semester, the crowd erupted in applause.
