BUFFALO, NY – Canisius University will host the WNY Student 2 Biz Challenge on Thursday, April 18 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Montante Cultural Center. The event, which is sponsored by the WNY Consortium of Higher Education, is free and open to the public.
The WNY Student 2 Biz Challenge is a Western New York Regional Business Plan Competition where undergraduate and graduate students from local colleges and universities compete for more than $225,000 in prize money. Three teams from Canisius University will participate in the competition. In the summer of 2013, a number of WNY winners will be offered the opportunity to incubate their businesses for up to a year on their home campuses.
Each team will have 10 minutes to pitch their plan, followed by five minutes of Q&A with a panel of judges. The purpose of the competition is to promote entrepreneurship between student teams in the following six categories:
- Biotechnology/Healthcare
- Energy/Sustainability
- Information Technology/Software
- Nanotechnology/Advanced Software
- Product/Services
- Social Entrepreneurship/Non-Profit
