BUFFALO, NY – Canisius University students Taylor Schupp ’13, Laura Schrader ’13 and Makenzie Tierney ’16 will perform with Neglia Ballet artists and members of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra in a new, full-length production of Giselle, at 8:00 p.m., Thursday, April 11 at Shea’s Performing Arts Center.
Giselle is regarded as the most romantic ballet in the classical repertoire. It is the sorrowful tale of an innocent, kind-hearted peasant girl who falls in love with a handsome young villager, Albrecht, only to discover that he has kept his true identity from her. Not only is he a nobleman, he is also engaged to be married.
Schupp is senior English major and dance minor at Canisius. She will play the dramatic role of Bathilde, the woman engaged to Albrecht. Schrader is a senior psychology and animal behavior ecology and conservation major. Tierney is an undeclared freshman at Canisius University.

Canisius University offers a dance minor, created in conjunction with the highly acclaimed Neglia Ballet Artists of Buffalo, which is recognized for its high level of classical training. Open to students of all levels of experience, from beginner to advanced, the minor provides a solid foundation in dance through the development of technical and performance skills. The main focus of the minor is ballet, with studio classes also offered in modern dance and Pilates. Studio training and performances take place at Neglia Ballet Studio in Buffalo and Canisius University will provide shuttle service to the site as needed.
