BUFFALO, NY – The Women’s Studies Program at Canisius University presented its 2013 Dr. I. Joan Lorch Awards during an afternoon luncheon on Friday, March 8. Conferred annually, the Joan Lorch Awards recognize a student, staff member, faculty member and administrator, who have made significant contributions to women on campus. The award is named after its inaugural recipient, I. Joan Lorch, PhD, professor emerita of biology at Canisius University. Lorch was a driving force behind the establishment of Canisius’ Women’s Studies Program.
The 2013 recipients of the Dr. I. Joan Lorch Awards are:
Allison Braun ’13 (student), an environmental studies major and captain of the women’s basketball team; Angeline Castronova (staff), retired employee of the facilities staff at Canisius; Kristine E. Kasbohm (administrator), director of the Andrew L. Bouwhuis Library; and Nancy M. Rourke, PhD (faculty), associate professor of religious studies and theology.
