BUFFALO, NY - As big data transforms all aspects of the world, industries are competing for a limited number of individuals with expertise turning complex information into actionable insights. Canisius University is filling that void by introducing a new bachelor’s of science degree in data science.
Set to launch in fall 2021, data science develops in students a core set of technical skills in mathematics, computer science and business intelligence. It is complemented by experiential learning opportunities in which students use the latest technologies to explore and analyze data sets and anticipate how they might be applied to various problem-solving situations. Rounding out the program is a holistic approach to the ethical issues that guide the use of data in modern life.
The BS in data science program prepares student for careers as business analysts, statisticians, data scientists and deep-learning engineers. Students also have the option of expanding their knowledge and skills in the field via college’s MS in data analytics.
