BUFFALO, NY – Erin E. Bagwell ’09 is currently executive producer of Dream, Girl, a documentary that will showcase the empowering stories of women-run companies and the founders whose ambition and dedication drive them. Dream, Girl will feature 4-6 female founders from a variety of diverse companies in tech, fashion, non-profit, advertising and other industries. In fall 2015, Canisius will host a screening of Dream, Girl.
In her documentary, Bagwell seeks to take an inside look at these businesses, including the risks, challenges, struggles and successes. She also will examine cultural forces that make today the most exciting time in history for women to start a business, and explore the deeply-rooted conventions, gender roles, and sexism that can hold women back despite their progress. Bagwell is producing Dream, Girl with $104,157 in funds raised on kickstarter.com, nearly double her $57,000 goal. Kickstarter is a global crowdfunding platform for creative projects based in the United States. If people like a project, they can pledge money to make it happen. Projects must reach their funding goals to receive any money.
