Council on Accountancy
The Council on Accountancy is a group of more than 50 accounting and financial executives who serve as advisors to our accounting department. The group works closely with our faculty to develop new programs and courses, provide mentoring and professional opportunities for students, and recruit future business majors.
Here’s how the Council on Accountancy gives our students a competitive edge:
- Helped create an endowment of over $4 million toward scholarships for scholarships for accounting upperclassmen and graduate students.
- Hosts the Accounting Experience program, which offers opportunities for paid summer work in public accounting, industry, financial institutions and government
- Organizes professional networking breakfasts and mock job interviews
- Assists with job placement for graduates
Corporate Connections
Our reputation for excellence in business has opened the door to partnerships with 3,600 companies and organizations within Western New York and throughout the Northeast. Events such as Meet the Accountants Night and the annual Accountants Banquet leverage these connections, putting soon-to-be-graduates in touch with potential employers.
Career LaunchPad
The Career Launchpad program is a sequence of courses available to business majors designed to give you the tools to create your own path to professional success. With personalized coaching and experiential learning opportunities, Career Launchpad will transform first-year business students into a career-ready business professionals.
Canisius Connect
With 500 active users and counting, Canisius Connect is a networking resource that brings together people who share professional interests. The online platform is an easy and convenient way for students to reach out to alumni for valuable career support.
Handshake
Managed by the Griff Center, our online career portal features job postings and career event information. During the 2017-2018 academic year, students were able to locate 373 nonacademic business internships using Handshake.
On-Campus Interviews
Through the Employer Services Suite at the Griff Center, students can participate in on-campus interviews. Although the interviews can be scheduled at any time, most take place between October and April.
