Katie Kicinski

Ms. Kicinski has been working in the field of health education/health promotion for over 12 years and teaching in higher education for over 7 years. In addition to teaching KIN 220 and HSV 480 at Canisius, she is a Digital Product Manager at a local health insurance company, Independent Health. There, she oversees the member action plan project, which provides an engaging customer experience by creating a personalized list of health behaviors and activities members need to take action on and tracking when members complete those activities. 

In addition to teaching at Canisius, Ms. Kicinski is also an adjunct faculty member in the Global Gender Studies Department at the University at Buffalo where she teaches a women's studies and policy writing internship. She has also taught courses on health education, community health, and disease prevention in the Health Promotion Department at Daemen University.

Ms. Kicinski is certified as a Health Education Specialist (CHES) in addition to her BS in Health Care Studies-Community Health from Daemen University and her Masters of Public Health from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.  She is also a PhD Candidate in the Global Gender Studies Department from the University at Buffalo where her research is focused on contraceptive autonomy and understanding women's health care experiences and access to preferred methods

She loves teaching in higher education and sharing her knowledge and passion for the health education field with students to hopefully inspire and mentor them for the next phase in their lives. 

When she is not working, teaching or doing school work, she enjoys biking, kayaking or hiking with her husband and their two dogs.
