Supporting Your Success

During your first semester, you’ll connect with your Student Success Team. This group of four pros covers your academic, administrative, financial aid and career services needs. Think of them like your Canisius concierges. Their job is to provide you with personalized guidance at critical points in your college career – and even your post-college career.

After you graduate, you’ll have access to free career services, including practical help with resumes, cover letters, interviews and more, as well as our private job network. Whether you need academic or accessibility support, or looking for experiential opportunities like internships and jobs, you can count on your Student Success Team to be behind you every step of the way.

Benjamin Harrington, Special Education/Childhood Education

"During my three and a half years at Canisius, I learned an incredible amount with much credit to the thoughtful field experiences and opportunities that grew from each placement. The program at Canisius reinforced my personal beliefs that hard work and high expectations yield great results, and leading by example is required. These I found to be true as a first year special education teacher in Charles County Maryland.

As a first year teacher, I was ahead of the curve and able to thrive in my position due to the high quality preparation I received at Canisius."

Learn To Lead

At Canisius, we take leadership seriously. In addition to your support network, you'll find opportunities to develop the skills, competencies, and experiences that empower you to make meaningful impacts in your career, organizations and communities.

Leadership stems from a sense of purpose and integrity, which is why each of our programs incorporate topics in social justice. You’ll be exposed to real issues in the classroom, so that you can start to see opportunities to make a real difference in the world.

Here are just some of the opportunities that you can look forward to at Canisius:

  • Publishing new research with your professors.
  • Presenting and performing your original scholarship, art and more at Ignatian Scholarship Day.
  • Participating in 90+ student-run clubs, societies and organizations — or even forming your own.
  • Giving back to communities around the world through service projects and immersions.
“All the research, labs and teaching I had done at Canisius, and it was nice to know this combination of experience mattered in the real world. My education prepared me to hit the ground running.”
Max Belfatto, Biology
Hayley Virginia

Hailey Virginia, Canisius alumna now pursuing a PhD in Psychology

"I fell in love with an intro course, then a second psych course really set me on the path to a career in psychology. The more I learned, the more interesting it became. You work closely with a mentor, develop research with others and learn how to think critically.

My Canisius education truly changed the direction of my life but it wasn’t just the coursework. It was a combination of my own drive, the close relationships I built with students, teammates and faculty members, and the many different learning experiences."
