David Farrugia

Dr. Farrugia is a counselor educator with significant experience in school counseling and mental health counseling. He began his career as a special education teacher. He is a past chairperson of the Department of Counseling and Human Services and currently serves as the Coordinator of the School Counseling Program. His teaching is informed by his professional work as a counselor in private practice and as a consultant to mental health agencies and to schools. He is a recipient of the Koessler Outstanding Professor Award. Additional awards include twice being named as an outstanding contributor to the Journal for Association for Spiritual, Ethical and Religious Values in Counseling. Dr. Farrugia coordinates accreditation activity for the Department related to the Council on Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs. He also serves as a team chair for accreditation site visits to counselor education programs throughout the country.
