Canisius Magazine is on hiatus as the college prepares to publish Canisius University: Celebrating 150 Years, a commemorative publication that celebrates the college’s sesquicentennial anniversary. Canisius Magazine will return to its regular publication schedule in fall 2020.
Carter ’86 Appointed Supervising Judge of the Family Courts
Alumnus to oversee Eighth Judicial District
Kevin Carter ’86 was recently appointed supervising judge of the Family Courts of the Eighth Judicial District. His newly added duties include overseeing the judicial administration in Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie, Genesee, Niagara, Orleans and Wyoming counties. Read more here.
Li ’96 Promoted to CFO of Virtual Medical International Inc.
Named to company’s board of directors
Jianxing Li MBA ’96 was promoted to chief financial officer of Virtual Medical International Inc., and named to the company’s board of directors. Virtual Medical International Inc. is a medical-based tech company that specializes in patient data processing and analysis. Read more here.
Buffalo Native Says ‘Yes’ to Student Success
Ross ’09 heads initiative to increase post-secondary education rates
Daphne Ross ’09 is senior director of college success and communications for Say Yes Buffalo, a partnership aimed at boosting high school and college graduation percentages. Her devotion to the efforts of the non-profit inspires her everyday towards building a community where “students like myself, who are from Buffalo, get to be decision-makers in the community and give back to the community.” Read more here.
Fifty Fabulous Women
LaTrovato MBA ’12 pioneers all-women giving circle
Lisa LaTrovato MBA ’12, former president of the Canisius MBA Alumni Association, brought the phenomenon of “philanthropic giving circles” to Buffalo. The first of its kind in the city, the Fifty Fabulous Women Giving Circle, has grown from 13 to 100 women since its inception in 2018. Each individual writes a $50 check at quarterly meetings. The money is then donated to an organization that promotes the Buffalo community and the well-being of women and children.
LaTrovato was recently named director of development at Hauptman-Woodward Medical Research Institute. Read more here.
Alumnus Receives Albert Einstein Award of Medicine
Dillon ’66, MD recognized by International Association of Who's Who
The International Association of Who's Who honored William Dillon ’66, MD, with the Albert Einstein Award of Medicine. The award acknowledges his long-standing commitment to the field of medicine and his expertise in biology, chemistry, obstetrics and gynecology, maternal fetal medicine and high-risk pregnancies. Seymour Named President of NYS AHPERD
Assistant professor of kinesiology takes on new role
The New York State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (AHPERD) elected Clancy Seymour, EdD, president during the organization's 82nd annual conference November 20-23. Seymour is an assistant professor of kinesiology at Canisius and director of the Physical and Health Education Teacher Education (P/HETE) program. Read more here.

Swanson '17 is recipient of prestigious award
