Buffalo, NY – The Canisius University Center for Urban Education hosts a symposium entitled “Sharing the Wealth: How Regional Finance and Desegregation Plans Can Enhance Educational Equity” on Thursday, October 17, 2019 at 7 p.m. in the Montante Cultural Center. The event, held in partnership with the National Urban Alliance (NUA), is free and open to the public. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
The event includes keynote speakers, John Brittain, JD, professor of law at the University of the District of Columbia and Peter W. Cookson Jr, PhD, senior researcher for the Learning Policy Institute.
Housed in the college’s School of Education & Human Services, the Center for Urban Education is the leader in professional development and advocacy for teaching and learning in urban schools across Western New York.
“The School of Education & Human Services has invested time and resources in preparing educators to work with students in urban settings,” said Nancy V. Wallace, PhD, interim dean of the School of Education & Human Services. “And our campus’ location – in central Buffalo – makes us an ideal place to house such an innovative center.”
