BUFFALO, NY – John J. Hurley, president of Canisius University, and Paul B. Hurley, Jr., PhD, president of Trocaire College, signed a transfer articulation agreement between the two schools today. Students who graduate from Trocaire with an Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree can transfer to Canisius in the Bachelor of Science (BS) Professional and Technical Studies (PTS) major. Canisius will transfer 60 credit hours, allowing Trocaire graduates to enter Canisius with advance standing.
Accepted Trocaire AAS programs include Surgical Technology, Dietetic Technology, Human Resource Management, Computer Network Administration, Massage Therapy, Hospitality Management, and Medical Assistant.
“This is an exciting opportunity for Canisius University and Trocaire College to work in partnership to enhance the educational pipeline for students,” said John Hurley. “Building upon the solid foundation of Trocaire’s programs, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Professional and Technical Studies from Canisius will equip students with the knowledge and training they need to succeed in their professions or pursue post-baccalaureate studies. I am delighted that my brother and I have the opportunity to make this possible.”
“Increasingly, the premium placed in the marketplace for baccalaureate degreed candidates has been realized by job applicants,” said Paul Hurley. “The articulation agreement between Trocaire College and Canisius affords our students the unique opportunity to receive their educational foundation in their two year field of study with the option of earning their bachelor’s in Professional Studies. The fact that Canisius is my alma mater and their president is my brother makes this collaboration all the more rewarding!”
