Buffalo, NY – Beginning this year, the Canisius University Richard J. Wehle School of Business will offer two, three-credit MBA intersession courses during the break between the Fall 2012 and Spring 2013 semesters. Classes will be held on campus and online, and are open to both new and current students. Classes begin the week of December 17.
“The intersession courses offer current MBA students the ability to accelerate their programs, and in addition, provide new students with the opportunity to sample our MBA courses,” said Antone (Joe) Alber, PhD, dean of the Wehle School of Business. “The courses are conducted during an ideal time between Christmas and the beginning of the Spring semester.”
Geographical Information Systems (GIS) for Business (MBA 612), instructed by Craig D. Rogers, PhD, associate professor of economics and finance, will be held from Monday, December 17 – Wednesday, January 9. Classes will meet December 17 and 19, and January 2, 4, 7 and 9 in the college’s Financial Markets Lab, with additional coursework online.
This course is designed as an applied geographical information systems (GIS) course that introduces students to the concepts and use of GIS in a business context. GIS is an emerging mapping and spatial analysis tool that is widely used in education, government and industry to identify and solve spatial problems.
Mobile & Social Media Risk Management (MBA 613), instructed by Linda A. Volonino, PhD, professor of information systems, will be held from Tuesday, December 18 – Tuesday, January 8. Classes will meet December 18, January 3 and January 8 at the Canisius Center for Professional Development, with additional coursework online.
This course focuses on assessing and managing the risks associated with employees bringing their own devices to work (BYOD) and the use of social media by organizations and their employees. Mobile devices and social media expose businesses to cyber-attacks, data breaches, damage to brand reputation as well as legal, regulatory and compliance violations.
The application deadline for these limited-capacity classes is December 10, 2012. For further information regarding intersession courses and the college’s MBA program, visit the website, email @email or call (716) 888-2545 (toll-free at 800-950-2505).
