BUFFALO, NY – Timothy T. Tevens, president and chief executive officer of Columbus McKinnon Corporation, will receive the Business Executive of the Year Award at the annual Canisius University Business Awards Dinner on Tuesday, October 9 at Salvatore’s Italian Gardens. Cocktails begin at 5:30 p.m.; dinner is at 6:30 p.m.; the awards presentation will follow and will include the presentation of the Dr. Bernard L. Martin Award to Matthew K. Enstice MBA ’04, president and chief executive officer of the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus. The Business Awards Dinner is co-sponsored by the Business Advisory Council to the Richard J. Wehle School of Business.
Established in 1969, the Business Executive of the Year Award honors an outstanding Western New York business executive who has achieved professional success and demonstrated a broad interest in civic affairs. The Richard J. Wehle School of Business at Canisius University presents the award annually at the Business Awards Dinner.
This year’s recipient, Timothy T. Tevens, is president, chief operating officer, and director of Columbus McKinnon Corporation, a global market leader in the manufacture of hoists, cranes, conveyor systems and other products for handling large materials. During Tevens’ tenure, Columbus McKinnon has experienced exponential international growth, especially in China, Latin America and Europe. Sales during the second quarter of fiscal year 2012 hit nearly $150 million, up more than 13 percent from the same period last year. Sales outside the U.S. represented 47 percent of that total.
Tevens dedicates his time and talents in service with numerous civic, community and educational boards. He has served on the Erie Community College Manufacturing Technology Advisory Council, the St. Joseph Collegiate Institute Board of Trustees, the Western New York Special Olympics board, and as chair of the New York Chapter of the March of Dimes. Tevens also lent his leadership skills as a member of the Canisius University Board of Regents.
Tevens is a graduate of the Industrial Technology Program at Buffalo State College.
Matthew K. Enstice MBA ’04 will also be recognized at the annual Business Awards Dinner. The Canisius alumnus will receive the Bernard L. Martin Award. Established in 1976 by the Board of Directors of the Canisius University Masters Alumni Association (MBAA), the award recognizes a distinguished graduate of the college’s graduate business programs – someone who has excelled professionally and also provided significant service to the community.
As president and chief operating officer of the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus (BNMC), a 120-acre campus which unites nine anchor institutions devoted to life science research, medical services and medical education, Enstice directs BNMC’s multifaceted growth. He has been a driving force behind the BNMC’s emphasis on environmental initiatives, which include incentives for commuters who choose “green” transportation options.
Enstice’s leadership and dedication contributes significantly to Western New Yorker’s quality of life. He is actively involved in various educational, civic and charitable groups. Enstice currently serves on the boards of the SAGE Global (Students for the Advancement of Global Entrepreneurship), Buffalo Renaissance Foundation, Amherst Chamber of Commerce and Elmwood Franklin School.
A 2004 graduate of the Canisius University MBA Program, Enstice has shared his expertise at conferences and programs at alma mater and was a key member of the college’s Science Advisory Council. In 2012, BNMC presented Enstice with its Energy Efficiency Visionary Award. He is also the recipient of the Meritorious Service Award from the New York Commercial Association of Realtors. Enstice holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Hobart College.
