BUFFALO, NY – The Canisius University School of Education and Human Services offers two new certificate courses for the Fall 2011 semester.
Education technologies certificates are offered online in an eight-week course format. Motivated students can complete their certificate in as little as 16 weeks. Since there is no residency requirement, the certificates are ideal for working professionals in need of a flexible schedule and the convenience of a wholly online program.
There are currently two certificate options available:
The Education Technologies and Emerging Media Certificate serves those in education, business, government, healthcare or other settings who wish to enhance their skills in utilizing technology for teaching and training. Emphasis is placed upon the purposeful use of technology for content acquisition and digital literacy and connects to outcomes that produce more meaningful and diverse learning experiences.
The Online Teaching and Training Certificate serves those in education, business, government, healthcare or other settings where teaching or learning online is key. Content models best practices in teaching online and will actively engage students in the online teaching and training environment. Students are asked to recognize and foster effective online learning communities, assess successful online learning communities, apply emerging technologies in purposeful and effective ways, and apply new content to real life professional situations.
