Buffalo, NY - A native of Baltimore, Emilee knew she wanted to go away for college and major in biology.
Canisius offered her the best of all possible worlds: proximity to urban life, an intimate college campus, and academic rigor in the liberal arts tradition. Thanks to honors courses, she explored topics in the humanities and added a minor in philosophy, even as she made new discoveries in the biology lab. Service-immersion trips took her to New York City and Mexico City, where she connected her love of science with her desire to help people. Upon graduation, she was accepted to the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She deferred her enrollment to spend a year with the Jesuit Volunteer Corps, where she volunteered at the Native American Health Center in Oakland, California,
Today Emilee is an assistant professor at the Emory University School of Medicine and an attending physician in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Hospice and Palliative Medicine, at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
