Branko Bojovic ’98, MD, Pioneering Plastic Surgeon, to Speak at Canisius University

BUFFALO, NY −   The Dr. George E. Schreiner ’43 Pre-Medical Distinguished Speaker Series at Canisius University will host Branko Bojovic ’98, MD, chief of plastic surgery at Shriners Hospital for Children in Boston, MA, on Wednesday, April 12 at 7:00 p.m. in the Chester HON ’01 & Diane Stranczek Science Hall Commons. Bojovic’s lecture, entitled “Hamlin Park to Harvard: A Plastic Surgeon’s Journey from Buffalo to Boston - Advancements in Plastic and Craniofacial Microsurgery" is free and open to the public.

Bojovic, a native of Western New York, was a member of the team that performed the world’s most comprehensive facial transplantation, to date, in March 2012 at the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center.  He also serves as an assistant in surgery for Massachusetts General Hospital. He attended SUNY Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences and completed residencies in general surgery (Beth Israel Medical Center) and plastic surgery (Harvard Combined Program: Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Children’s Hospital of Boston and Shriners Hospital for Children in Boston).  

Bojovic then completed a craniofacial microsurgery fellowship at Johns Hopkins Hospital and the University of Maryland R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center. He brings expertise in adult and pediatric craniofacial surgery and microsurgery.  Bojovic has received numerous clinical and volunteerism awards and recognitions throughout his career.
