Are you looking for a chance to learn about African culture and history? Join the Institute for Global Engagement Kenya: From Pre-historic Civilization to Post-Colonial Modernization, an exciting and informative Lifelong Learners seminar from June 1 - 10, 2020.
The trip includes a visit to the Kariandusi Pre-historic archaeological site, discovered by Louis Leaky; a two-day safari in the Masai Mara during prime migration season and a visit and conversation with the Maasai people. Participants will visit a hospital in Kibera, the largest slum in the world; have a conversation with the director of East Africa’s World Health Organization, and take a day-long “ecological safari” with the Greenbelt movement, founded by noble prize winner, Wangari Maatha.
Birding around Limuru, a hike up Mount Kenya, bike riding and hiking among the tea plantations of Limuru round out the tour.
The Institute for Global Engagement (IGE) at Canisius University is a faculty-generated initiative within the Center for International Education. The IGE seeks to internationalize the culture of Canisius University, prepares students to become global citizens, extends its international programing outward to our community of alumni and other life-long learners, and assists many different organizations in the development of international programs.
