The Canisius University Buffalo-Niagara Alumni Chapter is keeping one of its most important Christmas traditions alive by adopting a family from St. Luke’s Mission of Mercy.
The program helps ensure underprivileged families in Western New York have an enjoyable holiday. It’s coordinated each year by chapter member Shannon Callahan ’09 but the Canisius initiative is truly a group effort, in which all are invited to participate. And it couldn’t be easier.
Alumni and friends can purchase donation items for Canisius’ adopted family by visiting their Amazon Wish List. Callahan collaborated with the family to create the list, which includes a variety of items that range in price. Once purchased, the items are shipped to the Office of Alumni Engagement, which works alongside Buffalo-Niagara Chapter members to wrap the gifts.
“This is an awesome opportunity for alumni to hang out while doing something so meaningful,” says Callahan. “It makes me incredibly proud to see our alumni network come together to support a family in need.”
Alumni interested in participating in the Adopt a Family initiative have until Thursday, December 12 to purchase gifts. To do so, click here to visit the Amazon Wish List. And please, feel free to share the link with your friends and family.
