Accounting Society Banquet to be Held April 27

Georgia Dachille, executive vice president of global supply chain and technology at Rich Products, will be honored as the Accountant of the Year at the 61st annual Canisius University Accounting Society Banquet on Thursday, April 27 at Salvatore’s Italian Gardens.  Cocktails are at 5:30 p.m., dinner will be served at 6:15 p.m.

The Canisius University Accounting Society will also recognize Mark J. Koziel ’91, CPA, CGMA, executive vice president of firm services at the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA), during the organization’s annual dinner. Koziel will receive the Dr. Joseph R. Coppola ’40 Award, which recognizes the exceptional achievements of a Canisius University accounting alumnus.

Dachille is executive vice president of global supply chain and technology at Rich Products. She is responsible for the development and innovation across both regional business and global functions. Dachille began her 25-year career at Rich’s in the internal audit practice. Her various roles included manager of corporate accounting, director of international finance, vice president of international finance, senior vice president (SVP) of international finance and senior vice president of finance and business development. As SVP of finance and business development she oversaw the five food-group regions, analysis and forecasting, the international marketing team, and the new platform acceleration team and global initiatives.

Dachille lends her time and talents within the community.  She serves as a board member and treasurer of the Aspire Foundation, a board member of Girls Education Collaborative, a member of the Canisius University Business Advisory Council and as a mentor for Say Yes Buffalo.

Dachille holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a master of business administration degree from Canisius University.

Mark J. Koziel ’91, CPA

Koziel is executive vice president of firm services for the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA). He leads the Private Companies Practice Section (PCPS), Firm Relationship Management, Small Firms, Diversity & Inclusion, Young Member Initiatives and Technical Hotline and Center for Plain English Accounting. Koziel teams build and manage firm relations with all sized firms, promoting awareness and value, including advocating for CPA firm success and ongoing relationships with public accounting influencers.

Prior to joining the AICPA, Koziel served three years as director of media planning for a political consulting firm after finishing his 12-year public accounting career. He was named in the top 10 of the Top 100 Most Influential People in Accounting by Accounting Today in 2016 and has appeared on the Top 100 list since 2008. He has also been named as one of CPA Practice Advisors’ 25 Thought Leaders from 2012 through 2017. Koziel was named to the Global Accounting Power 50 list by The Accountant Magazine and the International Accounting Bulletin in 2014 and 2015.

While in Buffalo, Koziel volunteered his time with various local not-for-profit organizations.

He served on the boards of the Buffalo Crimestoppers, Buffalo Police Foundation and the NYSSCPA-Buffalo Chapter where Koziel was a founding member and eventual chair of the Young CPAs and President of the Chapter. In North Carolina, Koziel is active in the Wake Forest Community, where he coaches his son’s youth football and basketball teams and volunteers for various local advisory boards.

At Canisius, Koziel established the Mark J. Koziel ’91, CPA, CGMA, Accounting Scholarship for deserving students majoring in accounting. Based on financial need, scholarship priority is given to students residing in Cheektowaga, Lancaster and Depew, NY.

Koziel holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Canisius University.
